UV Induced DNA Damage Assays

DNA may be damaged by ultraviolet light resulting in the formation of two structures: cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPD) and pyrimidine (6-4) pyrimidone photoproducts (6-4PP). The result is a mutation of C to T and CC to TT, which are the most prevalent mutations in p53 found in human and mouse skin cancers.
